Margaux wine: one of the most famous in the world!
More than a city in the South-West of France, Margaux is also known for its wine “le margaux”. This French red wine with a controlled designation of origin (AOC) is produced around the commune of Margaux in the Médoc, one of the subdivisions of the Bordeaux vineyard.
The AOC Margaux is also the only communal appellation of Haut-Médoc to bear the name of a Premier Grand Cru Classé, Château Margaux. This appellation extends to the south of the Médoc over approximately 1,400 hectares and produces an average of 63,000 hectoliters of red wines per year.
