Visit Champagne Alfred Gratien in Épernay

Champagne Winery
The Alfred Gratien Champagne house was founded in Epernay in 1864 by Alfred Gratien himself. It is now chaired by Olivier Dupré and belongs to the Henkell-Freixenet group. Alfred Gratien is one of the rare houses in Champagne to develop all of its undergrowth wines, in a cellar of 1000 barrels, more than a century old. For four generations, the same line of Cellar Managers has taken care to perpetuate and transmit the passion for wood and the ancestral gestures of winemaking in barrels. This work of goldsmith provided today by the Chef de Caves Nicolas Jaeger, signs the Alfred Gratien style. It ensures its sustainability. Developed without malo-lactic fermentation, Alfred Gratien Champagnes are great wines for aging with remarkable freshness. They are described as vinous, distinguished, expressive and gourmet. They excel at the table. 300,000 bottles are produced annually at the estate. 90% of them are exported worldwide. We have 2 ha of vines and buy the equivalent of 25ha from Champagne winegrowers mainly in the Côte des Blancs, hence a majority of Chardonnay in our blends. 2/3 of the grapes from the Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages.
