The Castello Pomino estate dates back to 1500, the year the castle of the same name was built, and from the very beginning it has stood out for the excellence of the place where it stands. This is evidenced by the story of 1716, when the Grand Duke Cosimo III de’ Medici identified the four most suitable territories in Tuscany for producing quality wines: in the announcement, considered the precursor of modern DOCs, the Pomino territory is listed alongside Chianti, Carmignano and Val d’Arno di Sopra. In 1873, Pomino wines were awarded at the Universal Exhibition in Vienna, while in 1878 they obtained the Gold Medal at the Paris Expo, the highest international recognition of the time.
