Since 1833, the Florio Cellars have housed the oak barrels where Florio Marsala wines age in seemingly immobile motion. These aisles capture the soul of the fortified wines aged within, thanks to the winery's unique geography and the diverse climates created by the varying distances from the sea of the oak barrels.

This tour will delve deeper into and reveal the Florio Marsala production process. An act of creation, punctuated by oenological intuition and human sensitivity, aimed at capturing the perfect time for the grapes to ripen, the perfect time for falling in love—that is, the encounter between alcohol and wine that creates Marsala—and the perfect time for the wine to evolve in oak.

About the host

Founded in 1833 by Vincenzo Florio, the Florio Winery in Marsala overlooks the sea in western Sicily.

Surrounded by the energy of the winds and flavored by the sea, the winery preserves, in a suggestive silence, the oak barrels where Florio Marsala wines slowly age. Hundreds of barrels, vats, and small barrels, each with its own history, breathe through the tuff floor. In this unique place, the winemaker interprets space, time, and oxygen to bring Marsala to life in its many expressions.

Today, the winery welcomes over 50,000 visitors each year, offering an emotional and sensory journey through the aromas of wood, wine, and marine and spicy notes. The various tasting options allow visitors to discover the versatility of Marsala and its food pairings, meeting the expectations of an increasingly discerning clientele.

An experience at the Florio Winery is an encounter with the history, culture, and authentic flavors of Sicily. The Donna Franca and Vincenzo Florio tasting rooms complete the experience with a modern and engaging approach, transforming the tasting into a sensorial experience that stimulates all the senses.
