About the people

Adega Fernão Pó is a family business resulting from the merger of the Freitas & Palhoça families. Linked to viticulture and wine production for generations, they bring together two branches of Fernando Pó's wine history. The Freitas, former owners of the region. The Palhoças, descendants of the “caramela” culture, coming from the north of Portugal who settled in “Foros” in the region. In the 1950s, Aníbal da Silva Freitas founded Adega. In 1990, with his son-in-law Custódio, he launched the first private label wine.
