At Maçanita Vinhos, winemaking is minimally involved, striving to bring the Douro terroir to the bottle. Offering a highly diverse range of wines, the Maçanita winery produces everything from single-variety wines, such as 100% Touriga Nacional Cima Corgo and 100% Touriga Nacional Letra A—two wines from the same grape variety at different altitudes—to the decolorized wines from multi-variety wines grown in old, high-altitude granite vineyards, to the oxidative Malvasia fina from the lower Corgo region and the 100% Arinto de Extreme with its pulsating acidity. Each of these wines is the result of a restless exploration by the Maçanita brothers, who, plot by plot, strive to convey the distinct language and personality of each corner of the Douro region.

Meet the team

Brothers António and Joana Maçanita founded Maçanita Vinhos in the Douro in 2011. Joana excelled in the recovery of grape varieties in the Algarve and the creation of distinctive Douro wines. António started Fitapreta Vinhos in the Alentejo (2004) and the Azores Wine Company (2014). Both have international experience and consulting services through Wine ID. They have won awards and recognition for the innovation and authenticity of their wines. Their winemaking values the fruit and the unique expression of the regions.
