Quinta Dona Matilde has belonged to the Barros family since 1927, when Manoel Moreira de Barros bought the farm and changed the name of the property to Dona Matilde in honour of his wife. Previously, the property, called Enxodreiro, belonged to Vinhas de Feitoria, vineyards of the highest quality in the region and authorized to export their wine when the Demarcation of Origin was carried out in 1756. In 2007, Manoel de Barros' eldest grandson launched a project to produce and sell DOC Douro and Port wines under the Dona Matilde brand. The family recently opened the doors of their home as a small, charming Rural Tourism establishment.

Meet the team

Manuel Ângelo Barros, grandson of the founder of the Barros group, managed the family project for 30 years. He stood out in civic positions, such as president of the Port Wine Exporters Association and Director of the Porto Commercial Association. With a degree in Electrical Engineering and courses in Oenology, his influence encompassed both business and the community. In 2007, after the sale of the family group, he launched a new wine project under the Dona Matilde brand and continues to lead this project today.
