Bodegas Vi Rei

Llucmajor was one of the first populated areas in Mallorca, as evidenced by the numerous talaiots and villages spread throughout the municipality. It was also one of the first areas where the Romans planted vines. And from the beginning it stood out for the excellence of its wines.

Pliny the Elder, in his book “Natural History”, already compared the wines of the Balearic Islands with the best of the Roman Empire, but it was after the conquest of Mallorca in 1229 by King James I, when the cultivation of the vine reached its maximum expression, only interrupted by the arrival in Europe, in the 19th century, of the phylloxera that devastated the vineyards of Europe and therefore of our island, plunging the wine sector into a deep and long period of decline.
