Experiences from €4.00

On the slopes of the Durance and in the Avance valley, the Hautes-Alpes vineyard is in full renaissance. Its history goes back thousands of years and dates back to the Middle Ages. With the phylloxera crisis this micro vineyard almost disappeared. La Maison du Vigneron traces this fabulous history through old wine objects, original documents and numerous historical photos and films. Inaugurated in 2020, it offers a visiting area at the foot of a sloping, century-old vineyard, a tasting and sales area where the vintages of the 12 high-Alpine winegrowers are presented. With 160 ha of vines, some of which are the highest in France, the high-Alpine vineyard is classified as IGP. The estates are regularly rewarded with prizes and medals such as the Tresbaudon estate with 3 gold medals and 1 silver at the 2024 Agricultural Show. The particularity of these estates is to use ancient grape varieties including one endemic to High mountains ; the mollar whose preservation, in the 1950s, made it possible to put it back into cultivation. The specificity of these micro-domains is that they will be less impacted by global warming due to the altitude. The department produces red, white and rosé wines with varied and sometimes rare grape varieties.
