Quinta dos Poços because when rainfall is intense in the region, multiple water springs emerge in its soil. It has also been suggested that its name is due to the fact that it is in front of point 130 or Ponto das Poças described by Baron de Forrester on his map "O Douro Portuguez e Paiz Adjacente", in 1848.
Quinta dos Poços is located in the World Heritage Site of the Douro Demarcated Region, in the Baixo Corgo area, in the town of Valdigem. It is one of the oldest in the region, with the main house being a typical rural manor house from the 18th century. French troops of Brigadier General Loison, the "One-armed", were stationed there during the first Napoleonic invasion in 1808.
The farm belongs to the family of Prof. Doctor José Manuel da Costa Mesquita Guimarães.

We give absolute priority to treating the vineyard to obtain excellent raw material. Therefore, in order to enhance the quality of the grapes and guarantee the necessary concentration and depth of the wines, we are obliged to prepare the vines to optimize their photosynthesis, to use a minimum of chemical agents, to produce grapes that are guaranteed to be healthy and to obtain very low production yields, in particular through severe pruning.
We also produce olive oil and honey that are part of our heritage.
