Concentrated on a few hectares in the 17th century, the family vineyards experienced a real boost under the impetus of Jean Trocard, who in 1945 gave free rein to his talents as a great winemaker.
Jean-Louis Trocard, his son, took over the estate in 1976 with his wife Elisabeth and gave it a real dimension, developing the area from 20 to 90 hectares of vines.
A lover of Merlot, Jean-Louis Trocard transcends the king grape variety of the right bank of Bordeaux on magnificent terroirs selected in the Pomerol, Lalande de Pomerol, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Lussac Saint-Émilion appellations…
He created one of the first Bordeaux Supérieurs 100% Merlot: Château Trocard Monrepos.
He brings new practices to the vineyard as well as to the cellar, which allows Trocard wines to acquire a very high reputation internationally. The wines from the Trocard vineyards are renowned for their beautiful concentration and great finesse.
