Located in the northwest of the appellation, Château Grand Corbin cultivates its own identity because of its land and terroir. Concerning this land, it is sand of wind origin resting on a layer of clay, there is even blue clay so precious in the production of the greatest wines of the region. There, Merlot, fortunately, represents 80% of the grape varieties. It is accompanied by 16% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Several owners succeeded one another, we can mention in the 18th century, Guillaume Ignace Bouchereau, ennobled with the title of baron of Saint-Georges. He made his fortune in the sugar cane plantation in Santo Domingo. The former planter becomes a winegrower and even a visionary winegrower who undoubtedly leaves his mark on the history of the vineyard. In 1986, the Smabtp Group, Mutual Insurance for Building and Public Works Companies, became the owner of the Château Haut Corbin of around ten hectares. Then in 2010, the group acquired the neighboring Château Grand Corbin vineyard, owned by the Giraud family for the last decade.
In 2012, during the new classification of Saint-Émilion, Inao accepted their merger under one and the same name: Grand Corbin which would reach the rank of Grand Cru Classé. Status confirmed in 2022. The surface area now represents 37 hectares, of which 28.5 hectares are classified.
