Château Yon-Figeac

About the winery

In the shade of its beautiful 19th century residence and its tower, this Château Grand Cru Classé of Saint Emilion perpetuates traditional know-how in each vintage, in search of great quality. Since its acquisition in 2005 by Mr. Alain Château, major technical and architectural work has been undertaken on this Château, for a complete renovation of the operating buildings.

The wine is worked with delicacy and regularity of style, without ever distorting the notion of terroir so important in the eyes of Mr. Château and his team. From this constant work comes a fleshy and tasty Grand Cru Classé, with great aging potential, as well as a fruity and fresh second wine.

Thanks to the use of Merlot and Cabernet Franc in its blends, Château Yon Figeac takes up the codes of classic Saint Emilion. The uniqueness of this Château is defined by the use of Petit Verdot, an atypical grape variety in Saint-Emilion which gives a nice finish as well as a very interesting spicy touch.

Upon entering the property, you will be greeted by a work by the artist Cécile Pitois, representing the duality formed by the sun and the rain in the accomplishment of a beautiful vintage, put in parallel with the duality of men and women.

Meet the team

Alain Château acquired the property in 2005. An engineer by training and a former industrialist, nothing predestined him for winemaking, except his love for the product and for vineyard landscapes. After honing his skills on estates in Anjou, the opportunity arose for him to continue his winemaking career in Saint-Émilion, at Château Yon-Figeac. Since 2005, Alain Château has surrounded himself with a team of professionals, including consulting oenologist Christophe Ollivier.
