About the host
Incidentally, "Herrschäftler" is not the name given to the residents of the area, but to the excellent wine: the most important wine-growing region in Graubünden is the Bündnerdominion with the communities of Fläsch, Maienfeld, Jenins and Malans.
Wines from Graubünden are no longer an insider tip. But its diversity is yet to be discovered: 45 grape varieties thrive in the sovereignty, the warmest wine-growing region in German-speaking Switzerland, and more than 50 different wines are produced from them. Pinot Noir dominates with 78 percent. Vineyards and wine cellars (here called Torkel) can be visited. On the wine hiking trail you can learn more about the production of the fine wines. Year after year, vintners, the weather and last but not least the Föhn produce great Öchsle values. Today, various winemakers develop their most beautiful wines in barriques and achieve top rankings at international tastings.
