Visit and Tasting Grande Villae

Cradle of great wines with a classic profile and enormous longevity, the Dão demarcation was officially established in 1908, becoming the first non-liqueur wine region in Portugal. Currently, Dão is one of the most emblematic and promising regions, where the past of noble houses of Portuguese families, which once gave life to the interior of the country and developed the vineyard a little throughout the region, intersects with the dreams of hospitable people and hardworking. It is in this region that we find the place of Taboadella. The oldest historical references of the property go back to the medieval era, where in 1255, Taboadella was a property belonging to an upper-class rural family, with the house and farm buildings nestled in a mixed forest of pine, oak and chestnut trees, surrounded by a secular garden that extended to the plots of vines. Here we find remains of a Villae Romana, where even today it is possible to find a large wine press on the rock monolith rock, one of the oldest historical traces of winemaking technology in Dão.
