About this experience & host
Located at the heart of a 300-hectare property, the Château Giscours vineyard covers 80 hectares in the Margaux appellation. Grand cru Classé in 1855, the wine of Château Giscours possesses all the elegance of the grands crus from this prestigious terroir. Managed by Eric Albada Jelgersma since 1995, Château Giscours is thus part of the continuity of generations of winegrowers, making this estate a world-renowned Grand Cru. The neoclassical facade of the current castle, dating from the 19th century, faces the vineyard which extends over more than 85 hectares. On the other side, you have access to the splendid park with rare species designed by the landscape designer Eugène Bülher. The guided tour begins with the history of this prestigious estate: in 1330, a fortified keep was built on the site of Château Giscours. Two centuries later, the estate is recognized as a vineyard, its wine was notably served to Louis XIV. Presentation of the vines, discovery of the vat room and cellars, tasting in the room dedicated to this quasi-religious moment ... The visit is fascinating, enamelled with many anecdotes (we inform our kind customers that our barrel cellar and vat room are currently closed to the public for renovation).
